About sign pdf
Signing a document online usually means handing a contract to a third party and, in the process, giving them an image of your signature. Both halves of that are worth avoiding. The contract is confidential by default. The signature image is a reusable artefact that identifies you, and once it is on someone else's server you have no control over how long it lives there or what else it gets attached to.
This tool keeps both in the tab. You draw on a canvas — finger on a phone, mouse or trackpad on a desktop — or type your name and pick a rendered style. The result is turned into a transparent image, embedded into the page with pdf-lib, and written into the document you download. No image of your signature is stored anywhere, including here. Close the tab and it is gone.
Placement matters and the tool renders the page so you can see it. Drag the signature to position it, resize it by its corner, and put it on whichever page needs it rather than defaulting to the last one. Most agreements want a signature on a specific line, and a stamp landing in the middle of a paragraph looks exactly as careless as it is. You can add a date field alongside it if the document expects one.
On legal weight, be careful and check your own jurisdiction rather than trusting a tool page. In many places, including under the US ESIGN Act and eIDAS in the EU, an electronic signature can be legally binding for ordinary commercial agreements, and a drawn image applied with clear intent is a common form of one. But some documents — wills, certain property transfers, various notarised instruments — have formal requirements that an image cannot satisfy, and some counterparties specifically require a certificate-based digital signature with an audit trail, which is a different technology from what this does. This tool applies a visible mark. It does not create a cryptographic signature and does not generate an audit trail. Where those matter, use a service built for them.
Sign PDF FAQ
Is a signature added this way legally binding?
It can be, for many ordinary agreements — electronic signatures are recognised under laws such as the US ESIGN Act and eIDAS in the EU. But requirements vary by jurisdiction and document type, and some documents need notarisation or a certificate-based signature. Check what your specific document requires.
Is this a digital signature?
No. It applies a visible signature image to the page. It does not create a cryptographic signature or an audit trail. If your counterparty asks for a certified digital signature, you need a service built for that.
Is my signature image stored?
No. It exists in the tab while you work and is embedded into the document you download. Nothing is saved here or transmitted anywhere.
Can I sign on a phone?
Yes, and drawing with a finger usually produces a better signature than a trackpad. The canvas is touch-enabled.
Can I put the signature on a page other than the last one?
Yes. Pick any page, position the signature where it belongs, and size it to the line.
Can I add a date next to the signature?
Yes. There is a text field for a date or a printed name that places alongside the signature image.
